I just want to remind everyone (especially staff) that this is in violation of a settlement that I’m pretty sure they’re still bound by the terms of. Staff, if you treat trans selfies as NSFW you must treat cis selfies as NSFW or you could be sued again in New York (new Yorkers actually have the power to deal with this shit, if you’re a trans or otherwise queer person who’s been unfairly censored in New York please look for legal counsel, considering that Tumblr’s already there may be someone able to do it pro bono

I love desire paths. There’s something so wonderous about seeing an echo of humanity. Depending on it’s location, a desire path can mean so many different things.
In a city, like the pic above, they represent rebellion, and efficiency. The messiness of humanity. We like to imagine we’re oh so logical and neat so we design our cities to be logical and neat an then real humans literally trample on that idea. The ego required to think you can design something perfect that checks every box. Life is all about compromise and patching stuff when some new problem arises. Though people have certainly tried! Ohio state univeristy let students carve their desire paths, and then paved them over. It looks pretty artsy.
Some people will try to discourage desire paths, but this is almost always going to fail.
Eventually, people just have to accept them. Humans are too dang stubborn.
Certain desire paths are just adorable. A 0.5 second time saver. You just can’t design for maximum efficiency, humans will always find shortcuts!
Though on occasion a desire path can actually be the least efficient way…especially if you’re superstitious.
In a wilder area, such as below, they show us the curiosity of humans. A desire path somewhere natural often tells you there’s something interesting just ahead. (Though remember some ecosystems are fragile and will suffer if trampled! Stick to paths in these sorts of areas)
And how about desire stairs? I always think these look so cool. We get see humans determination to climb, to traverse every kind of terrain.
And for something really crazy…a desire path used for centuries will create a ‘holloway’

Looks like the biden admin is showing the first signs of caving regarding its support for the israeli gvt and is attempting to distance him from it. This should not be allowed to happen. He has a hand in this genocide and stepping away is not enough.
The most recent statements have changed from overt support for israel to a concession that israel’s civilian killings are too much, but he’s now claiming to be unable to exert enough influence to stop them. This is not true. He is trying to continue allowing it while avoiding culpability when he should be opposing it directly.
Nicknames like genocide joe and genocidin biden seem to have his campaign afraid that he might not win a second term if he keeps aiding ethnic cleansing. Good. Until he halts all material aid he should still be treated as an ongoing genocide supporter. And even after that he will never be clean of the lives of the people he helped put to death.

I just spent three hours pulling up carpet and staples for a friend’s home renovation and we all did nothing but chat and joke and have wonderful conversation the whole time.
Helping somebody move or renovate or giving them a ride to the airport is functionally the same as going mini-golfing or playing a board game: it’s an activity that you do that is made more fun by having good company, and which provides something to talk about when the conversation lulls.
